My Philosophy
The path to healing is different for everyone, but I believe for each of us it requires more than prescriptions, supplements or dietary changes. I think true healing also requires appreciating our resilience, trusting our bodies, and finding a sense of joy within ourselves. To heal, we must first become whole, which requires a deep look inside our bodies, minds and hearts. Medicine is so much more than medication. It is the careful synthesis of science, skill and compassion.
After all, human beings are complicated, so why should treatments be universal? My goal is to explore each patient’s unique physical, emotional and spiritual needs, and understand how those needs affect their health and wellbeing. Maybe they’ve been to 15 different doctors before they come see me, and keep getting told the same thing: “You are fine.” But their gut says otherwise.
I want every patient to feel heard—to feel supported and cared for, and know they are in a safe space. Together, we will discover the small adjustments that can make a big difference.
The beauty of working together from a functional and integrative medicine
approach is that your healing journey is tailored specifically to you
First, we establish care with an initial in-office appointment. This appointment takes about 90 minutes, billed at the hourly rate. During this time, we discuss your health concerns, health history, goals for our work together, current diet and lifestyle, and decide which tests to order. We want you to leave this appointment with strategies for improving your diet and lifestyle, but most prescription interventions will come once your test results are available. Our first follow-up appointment typically takes about an hour, depending on the number of tests we have to review, and should be scheduled anywhere from two to six weeks after our first appointment.
From there, we recommend additional follow-ups every four to eight weeks during the initial phase of treatment, so your plan can be adjusted if needed. These appointments are typically 30 minutes long, but we also offer 45- and 60-minute options. Once you feel better, you can check in as desired. We recommend an appointment at least once a year to get a comprehensive blood panel and make any necessary changes in maintenance supplements.
“Integrative medicine is a journey to better understand the patient’s mental, emotional and spiritual needs, and how those needs affect their physical health and wellness.”
