Policies, Fees and FAQs

What is the cost of working together? +

Dr. Nett's hourly rate is $525. The first appointment typically lasts 1.5 hours, but additional time can be taken if needed and billed at the hourly rate. Follow up appointments are typically 30 to 60 minutes.

How often should we follow up? +

Dr. Nett is here for as much or as little support as you find helpful. Initially Dr. Nett recommends more frequent follow ups, about every four to eight weeks depending on your treatment plan. This allows us to ensure your treatment plan works well for you. As you recover your optimal health we can check in once per year.

At the conclusion of each appointment Dr. Nett will provide a recommendation for your next follow up, and you can always follow up sooner as preferred.

Do you take insurance? +

Unfortunately, insurance companies do not currently reimburse for the time needed to dive into the details of your story, health and labs. And they do not currently support services directed more at preventative care targeted to the individual patient. Because of this, Dr. Nett does not contract with any insurance companies, but provides care with payment due at the time of service.

Depending on your health insurance plan, and specifically for PPO plans, you are often able to apply some of the lab testing and in office appointment fees towards your deductible. And once your deductible is met you may receive coverage for a portion of the fees.

You can request an itemized superbill to submit to your insurance to apply these costs towards your deductible. We will provide this superbill after receiving payment for the appointment.

Are laboratory tests covered by insurance? +

Dr. Nett recommends a comprehensive blood panel at least once per year, most commonly run through LabCorp or Quest. Testing through LabCorp and Quest are often covered by PPO insurance plans.

However, much of the testing is run through specialty labs, allowing a more comprehensive and accurate understanding of your health and body’s functioning. Unfortunately these tests are not covered by insurance. The necessity for tests can be discussed, especially where the financial burden of treatment is of significant concern. We currently use Rupa Health for ordering these labs, and this allows for a low cost option to ordering. This also allows you the chance to review the invoice prior to ordering.

Do you offer phone or video appointments? +

Yes, the initial appointment is offered as an office or video appointment, and all follow-up appointments can be scheduled in office or as video or phone appointments. However, we ask that phone appointments not be done while driving.

Can Dr. Nett be my primary care physician? +

Dr. Nett does require all of her patients to have a primary care physician (PCP) who can support you for any urgent concerns since she does not take call and responses from the office may take up to 72 hours.

Additionally, if you are requesting short term disability insurance (SDI) of other medical leave from work, Dr. Nett can provide a letter of support to your PCP, but does not complete the necessary forms given that this is a small practice without staffing required for such needs.

Dr. Nett is happy to provide referrals for local PCPs upon request.

Do you prescribe medications? +

As a holistic medicine doctor, Dr. Nett prescribes a limited scope of medications when appropriate, primarily thyroid hormone and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). Outside of BHRT she does not prescribe controlled substances (i.e., Xanax, Ambien, Adderall, etc.).

What ages do you work with? +

Dr. Nett works primarily with adults, but in some cases will also work with teenagers.

Why is all communication through the patient portal since email is so much easier? +

At this time there are increasing laws around protecting patient privacy and protected health information (HPI). Thus the medical records, phone and video lines used for appointments and all messaging are done in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

In compliance with HIPAA, this also means that if you would like Dr. Nett to discuss your case with another provider, you will need to provide an authorization form that our office can provide.

What is your cancellation policy? +

We request cancellation with a minimum notice of 48 business hours (i.e., Monday appointments must be cancelled by Thursday). The first cancellation made with less than 48 hours is a $50 charge, the second cancellation is 50% of the appointment fee, and beyond that the full appointment fee will be charged without notification given in the requested time frame.

How are you different from my other doctors? +

As a doctor trained in traditional medicine as well as functional and integrative medicine, Dr. Nett combines conventional evidence-based treatments with more alternative and holistic approaches to tailor therapy to each patient individually.

The current healthcare system in the US is largely oriented around treating disease. And while we can certainly help you once you have a condition, Dr. Nett also recognizes the importance of approaching health care while you are still healthy, supporting you to feel your best, and delaying (or completely avoiding) chronic illness.

One of the benefits of our independent practice is the freedom from limitations set forth by insurance companies or company boards so that Dr. Nett can spend time with each patient without feeling rushed, and testing can be ordered more freely.
